I still have a vintage Peterson's engine swap book, and the feature swap was a 454 Rat motor in place of a factory 455 Super Duty in an early 70's Trans Am if you can believe it. Just why?

That's called big block torque. Doesn't have to rev it to 6,000rpm to cook em!

IIRC (it's been half a decade) that's a ZL1. It's an unforgettable sound. An old high school buddy had one in a 3rd gen Camaro. His car was much more enthusiastic, though. He was the leader of our pack. We just settled with our small block Vegas. Early to mid-1990s, I upgraded to an L82 in a Fiero 2M4. WICKED!!! Needless to say, there was no shortage of embarrassed Corvette and Mustang 5.0 owners. Ahh, those were the days!!!!

I had a 1979 Trans Am just like the one in the video. The only engines available in '79 were the Olds 403 and the Pontiac T/A 6.6. The Pontiac engine was only available in a stick shift. The Olds 403 was the engine that most Trans Ams were equipped with in '79.

GORGEOUS! Details on the engine please? I had a 78 Bandit that was a bit of a Hotrod as well with a fairly warmed up 455. I like that yours has a manual trans. Mine was an auto. I tend to like manuals better, not that they are faster but they are more fun! 😎
